Omnes modi quibus corpus aliquod ab alio afficitur corpore, ex natura corporis affecti et simul ex natura corporis afficientis sequuntur ita ut unum idemque corpus diversimode moveatur pro diversitate naturæ corporum moventium et contra ut diversa corpora ab uno eodemque corpore diversimode moveantur.
Alle de wijzen, met de welken enig lighaam van een ander lighaam aangedaan word, volgen zo wel uit de natuur van 't lighaam, dat aangedaan word, als uit de natuur van 't lighaam, dat aandoet: in voegen dat een en 't zelfde lighaam verscheidelijk bewogen word, naar de verscheidentheit van de natuur der lighamen, die 't bewegen; en in tegendeel dat verscheide lighamen van een en 't zelfde lighaam verscheidelijck bewogen worden.
All modes, wherein one body is affected by another body, follow simultaneously from the nature of the body affected and the body affecting; so that one and the same body may be moved in different modes, according to the difference in the nature of the bodies moving it; on the other hand, different bodies may be moved in different modes by one and the same body.
